How COP helps

The Community Outreach Programme Trust is administered by the Board of Trustees. The board is made up of experienced business people committed to helping the Charity fulfil its stated vision and objectives.

Dumisani Qwabe

Dumisani has been an educator for the past 15 years working primarily in rural disadvantaged communities. His experience and expertise in education is invaluable for the COP Trust with it special focus on early developmental learning amongst disadvantaged communities. Dumisani is currently Principal of the Emakheni Primary School, just north of Durban in the Ozwathini ward.

Phinda Cele

Phinda is a clerk at Drake & Scull Business Connexion. He is in charge of all the facilities and equipment for their video and telephone conferencing centre. He also manages the Marian Hill Care Centre and is a reputable leader in his community there. He is highly skilled in dealing with community issues ‘at the coal-face’ and is therefore a vital member of the COPT Trust.

Lucas Scheepers

Lucas has been extensively involved in outreach project work for the past 5 years and worked as a SLA manager (IT) for 5 years before that. He has a BCom (Hons) (Econometrics) from the University of Pretoria. He is married with 3 children.

Stephen Blewett

Stephen is an Executive with a mobile telecoms provider. He has held leadership positions at executive and directorship level with several large organisations over the past 14  years. He is the author of 3 published works on Marketing, Business and Strategy. Stephen is extensively involved in raising awareness of the activities of the COPT Trust and his business acumen, experience and passion are of considerable value to the trust.

Craig Blewett

Craig is a lecturer at the University of KZN. He is an international speaker and has written a number of educational books. His experience in teaching and working with youth is a great asset for the COP Trust.

Cathy Strachan

Cathy is a professional with her own business. She has had counseling training and been involved with the care of the needy for many years. She has also been on fundraising committees and is used to organising and managing the people who volunteer for the COP Trust.

Barry van Heerden

A seasoned practicing designer, specializing in package design. He has an extensive knowledge of marketing and education. He lectured in communication design at DUT for over 20 years. Married with three children and two grand children, he brings to the COPT his wealth of life’s experience.
