In the rural area of Candu, just a few hundred meters from the main N2 to
Umtata lies a small village. While the parents go out to work many of the
children have no care facilities or formal training. Now, with the sponsorship
of Altech Autopage Cellular a crèche has been set up in this village. Not only
does the crèche provide a safe place and education for children, but it also
provides employment for several teachers. The crèche now also serves as an
important community centre for the region.
By working together with the local community the crèche has been running
effectively for the past 2 years, bringing a much needed resource to the future
of South Africa.
