Thembalethu Care Centre is an example of the blending of corporate investment, corporate energy and the passion and dedication of a local nursing sister.
For 7 years Florence Madladla worked to secure a derelict building in Lamontville from the council with the vision of turning it into a care centre for people suffering with HIV/AIDS. Now 7 years later, with her tenacity, generous corporate funding, and many corporate work days the building now provides a much needed centre for people to come to in order to receive their medication and a meal, plus consult with a sister.
The Thembalethu Care Centre is now a vital resource ensuring that those who can hardly afford food can now at least make sure they get a meal when taking their all-important ARV medication each day.
A run down building in Lamontville... Is converted by volunteers... Into a care centre for HIV/AIDS people!
