AfricAid's WhizzKids United is a unique and pioneering concept in that it recognises that football is a universal game, loved by all kids, that transcends language and culture. Therefore it uses football as a medium to develop essential life skills to enhance HIV prevention in kids.
The programme has been founded on the principle that knowledge alone will not prevent HIV! Instead kids are taught life-skills that inform, motivate and influence their behaviour bringing about a positive behavioural change designed to prevent new HIV infections.
It is a programme that is aware that behavioural change is a process and therefore, having once enrolled a child onto the programme the child follows a comprehensive eight-step programme. We at WhizzKids United firmly believe that to prevent HIV a sustained system of support is required. We are confident that this programme provides the necessary support in bringing about an AIDS-free generation.
Learning how to live while learning to play!
